Downside To Each Team’s Biggest Free Agent Signing: National League

St. Louis Cardinals: Mark Reynolds
Reynolds will serve mostly as a backup corner infielder for St. Louis but that could wind up being an important role, especially in the National League where pinch-hitting is more frequent. He hit just .196 last year in 378 at-bats but the power is still there as he hit 22 home runs and over 40% of his hits went for extra bases.  He does carry some value to the team but it only comes in a reserve role. Should an injury occur somewhere that makes Reynolds an everyday player, having an everyday player who might struggle to hit .200 might crush the Cardinals lineup.
