Snow Forces Change Of Plans for Vanderbilt Commodores

To say this has been a challenging weather week in the south would be an understatement. Snow, Ice, schools, and businesses have closed, just to name a few highlights. But, for reigning Baseball America Coach of the Year, Tim Corbin, snow wasn’t going to slow down his Commodores. Nah, when you’re Tim Corbin, you just pick up the phone and things happen.

The Commodores (2-1) were previously scheduled to play a weekend series in Nashville against UIC, but late Tuesday, early Wednesday, plans changed. The reigning National Champions are now playing a series against Indiana St (2-1). The series will be played in of all places, sunny Port Charlotte, FL, Spring Training home of the Tampa Bay Rays.

How many other coaches can pick up the phone on a Wednesday, cancel one series, only to schedule a completely different series 600 miles away, at a MLB facility? The clout and respect for Tim Corbin is unlike any other. His player resume of David Price, Pedro Alvarez, Sonny Gray, Aaron Westlake and Tyler Beede speaks for itself.

In Nashville, we joke about having a “Snowdome”, because we haven’t had any real measurable snow in a few years, but at Vandy, if the “Snowdome ” ever collapses, don’t worry, you have Tim Corbin.
