Adam Warren named Yankees’ fifth starter

New York Yankees‘€™ manager Joe Girardi announced Wednesday that righty Adam Warren will join the Bombers’€™ rotation as the fifth starter, beating out Esmil Rogers, Chase Whitley, Bryan Mitchell and Scott Baker for the last spot.

Warren, 27, earned the spot after posting a 2.70 ERA in 16.2 IP in five games, all as a starter. Last year he spent the entire campaign coming out of the bullpen and did a stellar job in 78.2 IP, with a 1.106 WHIP, 2.97 ERA, 2.7 BB/9, while saving three games in the process.

Warren will join aces Masahiro Tanaka, C.C. Sabathia, and second-tier starters Nathan Eovaldi and Michael Pineda in the Yankees’ rotation.
