Indians activate Nick Swisher

The Indians announced today that Nick Swisher has been activated from the disabled list after two knee surgeries. He is in the lineup tonight for the Indians against the Royals. Tyler Holt was optioned to Triple-A.

Swisher, 34, had his worst professional season last year slashing .208/.278/.331 with 8 home runs, 75 wRC+, -1.6 fWAR in 401 plate appearances. This will be his third season with the Indians after he signed a four year deal before 2013 worth over $50 million. He has a career slash line of .251/.353/.453 with 116 wRC+, 26.4 fWAR in parts of 11 seasons.

Holt, 26, only had four plate appearances this season with the Indians and didn’t record a hit. He slashed .328/.438/.393 last year with Triple-A Columbus.

Jason Vargas (2-1, 5.95) and Danny Salazar (3-0, 3.32) face off tonight.
