Report: Brewers getting calls regarding Mike Fiers

The Milwaukee Brewers have a number of trade assets that will intrigue teams throughout the league such as Jonathan Lucroy, Kyle Lohse, Matt Garza, Jean Segura and even Aramis Ramirez, but they have another player that is getting interest.

Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com reports that the Brewers “are drawing interest from other clubs” in right-handed pitcher Mike Fiers, but that they “are not motivated to trade him.”

Fiers, 29, has shown flashes of being a good big league pitcher. In 14 games with the Brewers in 2014, he went 6-5 with a 2.13 ERA and 76/17 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

This season has not been a good one for Fiers, but he has still shown flashes of his 2014 self. In eight starts, he has gone 1-4 with a 4.75 ERA and 52/16 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

That being said, Fiers is not a top-of-the-rotation type pitcher. He is more of a bottom-of-the-rotation type of pitcher that could do well in a long-reliever type role.

Even though there is interest in Fiers, with the Brewers being unmotivated to trade him, it makes him a highly unlikely trade target for teams. They might not have to go very far with both Lohse and Garza in Milwaukee.
