Cubs’ prospect Javier Baez out 4-8 weeks with fractured finger

This is unfortunate news for Chicago Cubs fans.

Cubs’ minor league infielder Javier Baez will be sidelined approximately 4-8 weeks after fracturing his left ring finger in a Triple-A game Sunday.

However, according to ESPN Chicago’s Jessie Rogers the team will re-evaluate him later this week before issuing an exact time frame for his absence.

Baez sustained the injury sliding head first into second base on a successful steal attempt. He was taken to the hospital for x-rays.

Baez is batting .314 with eight home runs and seven stolen bases for Triple-A Iowa this season.
