Report: Braves shopping Freddie Freeman

After trading away star shortstop Andrelton Simmons, the attention turned to Freddie Freeman. Will the Atlanta Braves listen to trade offers for their stud first baseman?

That appears to be the case.

Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com reports that the Braves are in fact shopping Freeman, along with “everyone owed money.”

Freeman, 26, is one of the games premiere first basemen, when healthy, but he is scheduled to make a lot of money going forward. In 2016, he is signed for $12 million and will make at least $20 million each year until 2021.

On the trade market, Freeman is sure to draw significant interest and if the Braves are in fact serious about their rebuild (seeing how they traded Simmons, they are), it would not be a shock if he was wearing a different uniform in 2016.

Last season, Freeman missed 44 games, some due to a wrist injury, but he still hit .276 with 18 home runs and 66 RBI.

Welcome to the offseason, Atlanta.

I guess if A.J. knew about these trades going on and now talks about Freeman and others maybe being moved, he would never resigned. Braves are going no
    where but down.
