NASHVILLE, Tenn. —- You may have heard about the Los Angeles Dodgers and Cincinnati Reds agreeing to a trade that would send Aroldis Chapman to Los Angeles.
Well, a deal very well may be off.
According to Jeff Passan and Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports, Chapman allegedly fired eight gunshots at his Miami home in October after an argument with his girlfriend.
Chapman’s girlfriend, they add, says that Chapman “choked” her and pushed her against a wall. No arrests were filed, however.
If the allegations against Chapman are true, it would not be surprising if the Dodgers backed out of the trade with Cincinnati. It would also be the furthest thing from surprising to see all teams back out of their pursuits of Chapman amid these allegations.
The pending investigation will prevent any team, including the Dodgers, from making an attempt at acquiring the star closer.
At the beginning of the afternoon, the Dodgers thought they had acquired Chapman, while in reality, they very well may never get to see him put on a Dodgers uniform.
