Over the last few seasons we have seen Theo Epstein, Jed Hoyer and the entire Chicago Cubs organization get stripped down and rebuilt. The 2015 season was just the starting point of all of that hard work. For much of the season there was at least four rookies in the every day lineup. The breakout year appears to just be the beginning of a very promising window.
For the Cubs, they have put in the grunt work of picking early in the draft, gathering up prospects, and developing young talent. The scary part is that the 2015 season was just scratching the surface. Chicago appears to have hit it big with the likes of Kris Bryant and Kyle Schwarber who were both top-5 picks and are now breakout stars. But even with an abundance of young talent firmly on the Major League roster, there is still more waiting in the wings. The plan that Epstein has laid out does not stop with Bryant and Schwarber, as the next wave of talent is also ready to contribute in big ways. The Cubs are bursting at the seams with talented prospects. Here are their current top-20 prospects for 2016.
