Option 1

  1. Cameron Maybin
  2. Justin Upton
  3. Miguel Cabrera
  4. Victor Martinez
  5. J.D. Martinez
  6. Ian Kinsler
  7. Nick Castellanos
  8. James McCann
  9. Jose Iglesias

Upton’s career .352 on-base percentage and his career 10.3% walk rate means batting the right handed slugger in the two hole is definitely a feasible option. Although lineup protection is considered to be a myth, having Cabrera batting behind you certainly can’t hurt. Just ask Torii Hunter who batted in front of Albert Pujols and Cabrera.

This option allows you to lengthen the lineup by putting Kinsler, and his .342 OBP in 2015, in the sixith spot. By putting Upton in the two spot, you get the potential for some early runs with the power an opposing pitcher has to face so quickly in this fierce Tigers lineup. Kinsler only struck out 80 times last year and has never exceeded 90 in his career. Upton, Cabrera and both Martinezes will certainly be getting on base. Putting a hitter who doesn’t strike out a ton and makes a good amount of contact behind hitters who all get on base at above league average clips could be a recipe for success.

What if you moved may bin from the top to the bottom? I think Kinsler, Upton, Might, Victor , JR would be the best bet

Hahaha, Miggy, the best hitter on the planet at anything other than #3 is INSANE!
Maybe if he were to not hit for power ever again #1 or #2, but #4, not anytime soon.
