Over the past few seasons, the New York Mets have benefited from having a talented minor league system. With the recent success of some of their young starting pitchers, such as Matt Harvey, Noah Syndergaard and Jacob deGrom, the Mets have put themselves in a position to be serious contenders in the National League, and showed that this season by making it to the World Series. Even without an elite offense, the Mets will find themselves in most games thanks to what is arguably the best rotation in baseball — all homegrown.

Although the team has seen a lot of its young talent make their way to the big leagues already, the youth movement in New York is far from over. The team’s farm system is filled with players who could make an impact with as early as this year, and with the team being playoff contenders, it’s possible that some of their best prospects could be crucial pieces in another World Series run.

    Good summary. Interesting to read about some of the very young, high-cieling IFAs the Mets have signed. One thing though…Matz is definitely a member of the rotation for 2016. He will not have to “wait his turn”. Otherwise, nice summary.
