Sleeper Candidates for the American League All-Star team

Brandon Moss – Oakland Athletics

If I handed you a stat sheet, with no name on it, and it listed numbers like 17 home runs in 285 plate appearances, a .263/.358/.534 slash line with a .271 Isolated Power, you’d probably reel off about two dozen names of American League hitters before naming Brandon Moss. After bouncing around to three different organizations in his first five years of pro ball, Moss has found a home at Coliseum, and just raked. Since the beginning of 2012, only Edwin Encarnacion and Chris Davis have more home runs than Moss does as full-time first baseman, would you have guessed that either? Moss has come up with clutch hit after clutch hit for the A’s over the past few seasons, and he undoubtedly deserves an All-Star nod in 2014.
