Sleeper Candidates for the American League All-Star team

Scott Kazmir – Oakland Athletics

The Athletics are getting a lot of love in today’s blog. But hey, they’ve earned it. Two years ago, Scott Kazmir was out of Major League Baseball. He was even out of Minor League Baseball. He was pitching for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Independent League, and then made his way to pitch in Puerto Rico. The Indians gave him a flyer last year, and he was very solid for them all year. The A’s, buying into Kazmir and his sudden re-emergence, gave him a 2-year, $22 million dollar deal over the winter. When Oakland does decide to spend their money, they do it right, and it seems to pan out. Kazmir has been one of the best left-handed pitchers in the AL thus far, logging a 2.08 ERA, a 0.95 WHIP, and a more than impressive .203 opponents batting average against. Kazmir should be an All-Star, no doubt.
