The Pittsburgh Pirates have been making a run recently. For most of the season they’ve been buried in the tightly packed NL Central, but now they only trail the Milwaukee Brewers and are just two games back. The Arizona Diamondbacks are next on the Pirates schedule, and only two teams in the National League have been worse than them. Pirates tickets are averaging $35.33 on the secondary market for the series, which is a 23 percent decrease from the season average at PNC Park.
7/31 PIT Jeff Locke vs. ARI Josh Collmenter | Avg. Price: $34 | Get-in Price: $10
The Diamondbacks rotation has been pretty terrible this season. To fully put that in perspective, Josh Collmenter has been one of their better starters and he has a 4.20 ERA, 4.07 FIP, and just a 1.0 WAR in 105 innings. The average price of the game is $34 and the get-in price is $10.
8/1 PIT Edinson Volquez vs. ARI Vidal Nuno | Avg. Price: $35 | Get-in Price: $9
Saturday’s game features Vidal Nuno, the pitcher they got from the New York Yankees in exchange for Brandon McCarthy. Nuno has been about as good as he was for the Yankees, which is not really a good thing. He’s struggling to keep the ball in the park, leaving him with a 4.63 FIP and a replacement level WAR. The average price of the game is $35 and the get-in price is $9.
8/2 PIT Vance Worley vs. ARI Chase Anderson | Avg. Price: $37 | Get-in Price: $16
Chase Anderson might be one of the few bright spots for the Diamondbacks. The rookie has a 3.34 ERA so far, and has one of the best strikeout rates on the team. He’s walking too many batters and allowing too many home runs, but those numbers should come down based on his minor league career. Pirates vs Diamondbacks tickets are averaging $37 for the game and have a $16 get-in price.
8/3 PIT Francisco Liriano vs. ARI Trevor Cahill | Avg. Price: $37 | Get-in Price: $11
A few weeks ago this might’ve been a battle of two very disappointing starters, but Francisco Liriano has turned it around lately. In his last three starts he has given up a combined two runs while pitching seven innings twice. He also has a WHIP below 1.00 during that time. But Trevor Cahill has been all kinds of awful in his seven starts for the Diamondbacks. While he’s certainly been a bit unlucky, a 7.44 ERA is terrible no matter which way you slice it. The average price of the game is $37 and the get-in price is $11.
