After looking like they were close to catching the Oakland Athletics, the Angels have fallen 3.5 games behind their rivals. But that has little to do with how the A’s have played, and everything to do with the slide the Angels have been on. But the Angels schedule gives them a bit of a break with the Philadelphia Phillies coming to town. It’s only a two game series, but the Phillies have been one of the worst teams in baseball in terms of both pitching and offense. Any sort of winning streak would help the Angels at this point. This game will also have some pretty cheap tickets for fans interested in attending. The Angels already have one of the cheapest ticket averages in the majors at $53.20, but this game is actually 46 percent below that average. Los Angeles Angels tickets are averaging just $28.50 for the two-game series.
8/12 – PHI Jerome Williams vs. LAA CJ Wilson | Avg. Price: $27 | Get-in Price: $6
Believe it or not CJ Wilson has been the Angels worst starter this season, with an ERA that finally matches up with the rest of his numbers. He currently has a 4.82 ERA in 123.1 innings pitched, and a team-low 0.4 WAR. Despite a high ground ball rate, he has the highest home run rate on the team, while also walking the most batters. Luckily for him, the Phillies are using Jerome Williams who is with his third team this season. His numbers have been pretty awful, with both the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers getting sick of him before the season ended. The average price of Angels vs Phillies tickets for the game is $27 and the get-in price is $6.
8/13 – PHI AJ Burnett vs. LAA Jered Weaver| Avg. Price: $30 | Get-in Price: $5
The price goes up just a bit for the second game with an average price of $30 and a get-in price of $5. Jered Weaver gets the start for the Angels, and like CJ Wilson he has been a bit of a disappointment. He actually has the second best ERA on the team at 3.68 in 156.1 innings, a number that only trails Garrett Richards, but his WAR rates below Richards, Tylers Skaggs and Matt Shoemaker. Shoemaker has barely even made half the starts Weaver has so far this year.
