The Los Angles Angels have agreed to ink Vinnie Pestano with a one-year deal, thus avoiding arbitration, according to the team’s official website on Monday. Pestano will earn $1.15 million for his services. He was projected to earn $1.2 million through arbitration.
The 29-year-old, relief pitcher, has a 5-8 record, 2.83 ERA, 231 strikeouts and 11 saves since debuting for the Cleveland Indians on September 23, 2010.
Pestano was acquired from the Indians in August. After being sent to the Halos, he has only allowed one run over 9 2/3 innings pitched.
