Jimmy Rollins blocked potential deal to Mets

The Philadelphia Phillies shortstop, Jimmy Rollins, blocked a potential trade to the New York Mets, reports ESPN’s Adam Rubin.

Rollins has full no-trade protection in his contract. He made the choice to exercised his right to destroy the deal because he didn’t want to leave Philadelphia. Rubin points out the Mets are no longer pursuing the veteran.

Rollins has spent his entire 15-year career in a Phillies uniform and will earn $11 million next season, after which the veteran will become a free agent.
