According to Phil Rogers of MLB.com, Billy Butler has been offered a 3-year deal worth $30 million. However, he later stated that the team had not been announced. Many believe it is the Baltimore Orioles.
Butler received a $1-million buyout after the Royals declined his $12.5-million club option for 2015.
Orioles executive vice-president of baseball operations and general manager Dan Duquette shot down the report once getting word of it.
“Not true,” Duquette said, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. “Not even close.”
The 28-year-old slugged under .400 for the first time and posted a career-low .702 OPS. His nine long balls were the least he hit since his rookie year in 2007.
