Free Agency: Justin Masterson

Justin Masterson, 29, looks for a place to call home this offseason. The twenty-nine year-old struggled tremendously last season putting up a 5.51 ERA with the Cleveland Indians and a 7.04 ERA with the St. Louis Cardinals. The right-handed pitcher needs to reintroduce his value as a pitcher. For this to be accomplished, he must sign a cheap deal. No team will pursue Masterson for more than a one year deal because of the poor season he recently had.

I could very well see Masterson receiving a 1yr/$7M deal. I know the deal is cheap but again, if he wants to be locked up to a long term contract, he must reestablish his value. Teams that could potentially make a run for the hard throwing pitcher could be the Cubs, Twins, Yankees, and Rangers.

Masterson can still prove to be the all star that he once was, all he must do is find his rhythm.
