Cuban free agent Yasmany Tomas is expected to partake in the winter meetings in San Diego, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. He is probably not going to sign with an Major League Baseball club before the event takes place, Heyman reports.
Tomas will talk to many teams, including the Philadelphia Phillies, San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres. He will talk with them when the winter meetings begin on December 7, 2014. He was able to get a visa to attend.
Tomas slashed .290/.346/.450 with only six long balls in 65 games in his final season in Cuba. However, many expect him to break out in the MLB and show off his power.
Tomas can play both the outfield and third base at the Major League level.
