According to Ken Rosenthal, the San Diego Padres will make an offer to free agent third baseman Pablo Sandoval. Several teams have been identified as landing spots for the three-time World Series winner, inducing the Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox and the San Francisco Giants, just to name a few. This deal is coming a few days after Sandoval left meetings in Boston.

It is obvious that the deal will need to be more than $90-million if the Padres want to compete with the Red Sox and Giants. The new Padres GM has been working hard to prepare a variety of options in the offseason.
“They definitely are willing to spend some money,” one rival executive told Rosenthal.
