Dodgers acquire RHP Juan Nicasio

The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired right-handed pitcher Juan Nicasio from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. The trade is official and has been announced by both teams through their social media accounts.

Nicasio,  28, is coming off his third straight season with an ERA of over 5.00, this time making close to half of his appearances out of the bullpen, accumulating 93.1 innings pitched striking out 63, and allowing almost 1.5 walks and hits per inning pitched.

In his four-year career, Nicasio, signed as an amateur free agent in 2006 out of his native Dominican Republic, sports a 5.03 ERA over 381 innings pitched, allowing 9.9 hits per 9 innings pitched an ERA+ of 89.

Nicasio will serve as a bullpen guy for the Dodgers come 2015, and given what they had to give in return, don’t expect them to be very patient with the youngster.
