Mets interested in Craig Breslow

This offseason, the New York Mets seek left-handed relievers to put in the bullpen. One player they are interested in is Craig Breslow. Last year with Boston, Breslow went 2-4, with a 5.96 ERA in 60 appearances.

The Mets only had two lefty’s in the pen last season, Josh Edgin and Dario Alvarez. Edgin went 1-0, with an ERA of 1.32 in 47 games. Alvarez had an ERA of 13.50 in only four appearances.

With the possible addition of Craig Breslow, more opportunities will arise in certain situations. Breslow is more productive against lefties, posting a 3.86 ERA. With this in mind, having both Edgin and Breslow as the only left-handed relievers could be a great duo.

The Mets are not interested in paying high for a reliever, therefore, Breslow will be a cheap option
