A “reunion” between the Texas Rangers and Geovany Soto, who played for the Rangers in 2013 and 2014 seems possible, according to Cotillo. In 2014, Soto appeared in only 10 games with the Rangers, mostly due to a meniscus tear in his left knee, which caused him to miss most of the year.
Soto was later shipped to the Oakland Athletics in August. In 14 games with the A’s, the veteran catcher hit for a .262 average with 8 RBI. He also made a surprising start for the Athletics in the 2014 AL Wild Card game with Bob Melvin choosing the vet over Derek Norris.
Adding Soto makes sense for many squads, he could bring veteran presence and solid defense to many clubs at a discounted price.
