Jon Lester to Cubs, “Buzzing” at Winter Meetings

With the Winter Meetings heating up, so are the rumors surrounding top tier free agent starting pitcher Jon Lester.

Earlier Tonight: According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the San Francisco Giants have been eliminated from the running, and it’s down to the Chicago Cubs and the Boston Red Sox.

The 30-year-old Lester has been the topic of discussion in the free agent market for some time now, and a clear cut favorite has yet to be named.  As Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports reports, tax implications could have an affect on where Lester ultimately chooses to sign.

As of late, industry sources have picked the Cubs as the favorite to land Lester, but at the end of the day(or night), it is his decision, and he has yet to make it.
