With the Winter Meetings heating up, so are the rumors surrounding top tier free agent starting pitcher Jon Lester.

The 30-year-old Lester has been the topic of discussion in the free agent market for some time now, and a clear cut favorite has yet to be named. As Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports reports, tax implications could have an affect on where Lester ultimately chooses to sign.
Yes, I wrote this AM that it is not just about money for Lester. It’s true – he might not take best offer. But tax implications a factor. — Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) December 9, 2014
As of late, industry sources have picked the Cubs as the favorite to land Lester, but at the end of the day(or night), it is his decision, and he has yet to make it.
