According to sources, the Baltimore Orioles have offered FA OF Delmon Young a one-year deal worth between 5-7 million dollars. Young has been looking for two guaranteed years, and is countering with a two year contract, and a source within baseball suggests they may settle for a one-year deal with an option.
Young, 29, signed a minor league contract with the Orioles last January, and batted over .300 in 83 games. He has wound up in the playoffs for six consecutive seasons, with four different teams, and the Orioles wish to continue that trend if they sign him. Dan Duquette, the Orioles’ GM, has been linked to preliminary talks with Jonny Gomes, Colby Rasmus, Michael Morse, and trade candidates such as Matt Kemp.
