Angels acquire Josh Rutledge from Rockies

According to Pedro Moura of The Orange County Register, the Angels have acquired Josh Rutledge from the Rockies for Jairo Diaz.

Rutledge, 25, hit for a slash of .269/.323/.405 with 4 home runs, 88 wRC+ with a -0.09 fWAR and .729 OPS. In 947 plate appearances with the Rockies over the past 3 seasons he has a 79 wRC+, and a combined fWAR of -1.1.

Diaz, 23, posted a 3.48 ERA in 64.2 innings with High-A and Double-A for the Angels. He struck out 85 while walking 20 He has a career 5.36 ERA in 367.2 innings pitched in the Angels’ minor league system. He is known to throw mid to high nineties.

Earlier in the night, the Angels traded their starting second baseman, Howie Kendrick, to the Dodgers for Andrew Heaney, so they are looking for middle infield help.
