Dominic Smith – I’m a very big critic of Smith only because the Mets could have had D.J. Peterson instead of Smith. The reason why the drafting of Smith was a stretch, is because he was a high school first baseman. This means that he can’t really move off of first base opposed to if he was an outfielder or third basemen then moved to another position. This year he struggled at single-A. He hit .271 with only 1 home run over 126 games. That really has to worry the Mets because there is no value in a long-term first baseman with below average power. Even with his struggles Smith still shows great pitch recognition and an advanced plate approach. The swing is no doubt very good, making him a possible Major League player, but where he fits with the Mets is a huge question.
