The Houston Astros have signed a three year contract with IF Jed Lowrie, the team announced via Twitter. The deal is worth 23$ million dollars, with a team option that could make the contract worth as much as 28$ million dollars.
Lowrie is a seven year veteran, who spent the 2012 season in Houston. The 30-year-old’s best career year was in Oakland during the 2013 campaign which he hit .290 with 15 home runs and 75 RBI’s.
There are a lot of signs that indicate Lowrie will start at shortstop for the ‘Stros, becoming Jose Altuve’s new double play partner. This is the Astros third signing this off-season, with Lowrie being the first position player, as the team looks to improve on their 70-92 2014 record.
