9. Jays Swap for a Third Base Upgrade

The Toronto Blue Jays trade Brett Lawrie and prospects to the Oakland Athletics for Josh Donaldson

I have been hearing a lot about how the A’s “definitely won this trade”. I could not disagree more. Josh Donaldson makes the Blue Jays the front-runner in the AL East. The argument could possibly be that the Blue Jays could have waited a year to sign Donaldson as a free agent and keep those prospects, but there is a risk there. If the Jays don’t have him this year, and don’t contend for a title, the biggest draw to get him in would be the money. But, if you get Donaldson into the system this year, and show him what your team can do with him, you might get him at a slightly lower number. The hard-hitting third baseman is definitely an upgrade from Lawrie. The Jays just traded for 29 HR and 98 RBI. Be happy Jays fans!

2015 Stat Prediction: .275 BA, 27 HR, 94 RBI (All-Star, Gold Glove, Silver Slugger, 8th MVP Voting)
