6. D-Backs Sell Low, and Buy High?
Diamondback fans, rejoice in the wake of this trade. Wade Miley is a 28 year old pitcher whom seemingly already hit his ceiling. While Rubby De La Rosa (25) and Allen Webster (24) are two young guys who are both on their way up on this league. They will both be able to jump into the D-Backs weak starting rotation, as well as their weak bullpen with no problems. De La Rosa started 6 games before the all-star break for the Red Sox and looked like a permanent fixture there. He pitched a 2-2 record with an ERA of 2.89 in 37.1 innings and 33 K’s. After the break he was not as impressive after the break, but whether it is fatigue or predictability, it can be fixed. Allen Webster has been a highly touted prospect throughout his career and should finally get a chance in a big way in Arizona.
2014 Start Predictions: De La Rosa- 30 GS, 12-10 record, 3.60 ERA, 175 IP, 170 K
Webster- 40 G, 15 GS, 7-7 record, 8 holds, 2 saves, 3.85 ERA, 155 IP, 95 K
