Chicago White Sox: Top 10 Prospects

7. Trey Michalczewski  3B – Another high school draft pick, Trey went in the 7th round in the 2013 Draft out of Jenks High School in Oklahoma. He played the majority of 2014 with the Kannapolis Intimidators and finished with a .273/.348/.433 slash line to go with 10 home runs, seven triples, and 25 doubles. While the average and extra base hits are a good sign, he also struck out 140 times in 495 plate appearances.

With plenty time to mature, the plate discipline should come around and it will go nicely with his across-the-board contributions. He still needs work on his defense as well, as he finished 2014 with a .916 fielding percentage in 131 games. Being 6’3″ and weighing over 200 lbs, he has the right build for a corner infielder, but the defense still needs improvement. He has starting 1B/3B potential with Chicago eventually. With the current logjam of unproven talent still at third base, He will likely start 2015 in Winston-Salem, and has a while before seeing Chicago.
