4. Jake Lamb 3B: The third base prospect could be the starter in Phoenix as early as Opening Day. Lamb’s path to the Majors hasn’t really been a common one, as he was drafted in the sixth round in 2012. Lamb’s calling card is his hit tool, as he has good plate presences and is able to make constant contact. He also boasts a 12% walk rate, which gives should give Arizona hope that he can stick in the Majors.
Lamb probably won’t hit 25-30 home runs, but he has the potential to hit 15-20 with a decent average and a good OBP and at third base that is a solid. His position makes him a bit more valuable given the scarcity at the position. He is also 24 years old so he could add some muscle and untap more extra base hit power.
