Hiroki Kuroda will return to Japan to pitch for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp. The 39-year-old right-hander went 11-9 with a 3.71 ERA in 32 starts last season, his third with the New York Yankees.
With Kuroda returning to Japan, the Yankees starting rotation features Masahiro Tanaka, CC Sabathia, Michael Pineda, Nathan Eovaldi, and Chris Capuano, with Ivan Nova set to return in late May from Tommy John surgery.
Kuroda came to the US in 2008 after an 11-year career in Japan, signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Kuroda compiled a 79-79 record with a 3.45 ERA and 986 strikeouts in 1,319 innings pitched in America. He was paid $16 million in 2014.
