The Sonoma Stompers of the Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs have been sold to Sonoma, Calif. residents Eric and Lani Gullotta, according to Baseball Digest.
Eric Gullotta will serve as the Chairman and CEO of Sonoma Athletics and Entertainment, under which the Stompers will be owned and operated. He negotiated the purchase of the franchise from the previous owners, Redwood Sports and Entertainment — a company owned and controlled by a group of Marin County investors — who also own the San Rafael Pacifics of the Pacific Association.
Opening Day for the Stompers is scheduled for June and they will return to Arnold Field to play their home games. The new ownership of the club will not drastically affect the Stompers’ front office as it is not expected to see too many changes this off-season. Theo Fightmaster is expected to remain as the club’s Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and General Manager while Sean Boisson is expected to be promoted to Assistant General Manager.
The Stompers finished their inaugural season in the Pacific Association in third place last season and went 42-36 in the league’s four-team circuit.
