San Diego Padres: Top 10 Prospects

10. SP Seth Streich– Acquired along with Derek Norris, he’s a sleeper prospect. He had a great 2014 season in advanced single-A and figures to pitch in AA in 2015. He’s also a good strikeout pitcher, and only walked 22 last year. Everything about this guy points to him being a solid starter at the big league level in 2016 or 2017. He’s not the flashiest prospect, but he’s a good bet to make the show.

Grade: B- Potential: A number 3 starter.

Agree w/the top three, but would put them Renfroe-Wisler-Hedges. Hedges’ defense is stellar, but his bat is really lacking. I don’t see Taylor Lindsey being anything in the majors, I think that Jose Rondon was the biggest piece in the Huston Street deal (no slight to RJ Alvarez, who was recently traded to the A’s in a package for Derek Norris and Streich). A prospect that I was really looking forward to was Mallex Smith, who was traded to Atlanta, I’ll be interested to see if he lands in their top 10, not sure how strong their farm is.

Good read! Great review of the new top 10 with all the changes. I will be interested to see what other changes are in store and how AJ Preller drafts.
