San Diego Padres: Top 10 Prospects

6. 2B Taylor Lindsey– Acquired in the Huston Street trade, Baseball America actually rated him the number one prospect in the Angels farm system going into 2014. Lindsey could be a good everyday second baseman at the major league level, and if Middlebrooks struggles and Gyorko moves back to third, Lindsey could just get a chance in the middle of 2015. He had a bad season last year, but the potential is still there and he could break out. He has above average power for a second baseman. He won’t stand out, but he can contribute.

Grade: B  Potential: Everyday second baseman who helps throughout the lineup.

Agree w/the top three, but would put them Renfroe-Wisler-Hedges. Hedges’ defense is stellar, but his bat is really lacking. I don’t see Taylor Lindsey being anything in the majors, I think that Jose Rondon was the biggest piece in the Huston Street deal (no slight to RJ Alvarez, who was recently traded to the A’s in a package for Derek Norris and Streich). A prospect that I was really looking forward to was Mallex Smith, who was traded to Atlanta, I’ll be interested to see if he lands in their top 10, not sure how strong their farm is.

Good read! Great review of the new top 10 with all the changes. I will be interested to see what other changes are in store and how AJ Preller drafts.
