Rangers Acquire Carlos Corporan From Astros for Akeem Bostick

The Texas Rangers have acquired catcher Carlos Corporan from the Houston Astros in exchange for minor-league pitcher Akeem Bostick. Evan Drellich of the Houston Cronicle had Corporan going to Texas while Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram had the Bostick return.

Corporan was designated for assignment yesterday to make room for Colby Rasmus. Last season, Corporan hit .235 with six home runs and 19 runs batted in 55 games. He has a career .226 average in parts of five seasons.

Bostick was drafted by the Rangers in the 2013 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft. In two minor-league seasons, Bostick has a 4.46 ERA in 133.1 innings, spanning 35 games.

The Rangers designed pitcher Gonzalez Germen for assignment to make room on the roster for Corporan. German was acquired from the New York Yankees on Tuesday.
