According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, free agent pitcher Ryan Vogelsong is no longer in talks with the Houston Astros and is now in “serious discussions” with the San Francisco Giants.

San Francisco’s roster already carries pretty good rotation depth between Madison Bumgarner, Matt Cain, Jake Peavy, Tim Hudson, Tim Lincecum, and Yusmeiro Petit, however, Cain is still rehabbing from right elbow surgery and Lincecum has been a start-to-start question mark for the past three years.
Houston will have to look elsewhere for its veteran starter or can try out a rotation that goes Dallas Keuchel, Collin McHugh, Scott Feldman, Brett Oberholtzer, and Dan Straily.
A 2011 NL All-Star, Vogelsong has a 3-0 record and a 2.92 ERA in eight postseason appearances with the Giants.
Altogether, Vogelsong, 37, is 49-57 with a 4.42 ERA in 10 seasons with the San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates.
