Troy’s Top 10: Second Basemen

Second baseman are always looked past due to the fact that they’re not power hitters like first baseman, or captains of the infield like short stops. They do, however, play a significant role in today’s game and here are the top 10 second baseman of today.

10. Daniel Murphy– Murphy had an excellent season in 2014, even though he played in his lowest amount of games since 2011, when he only suited up in 109 contests. Last season, he played in 143 and hit .289 with 57 RBI. The 29-year old played with a little bit more fire because he played last season with rumors swirling of being traded. He commit 15 errors, and had a fielding percentage of .974. If Murphy can focus on improving his defense during the offseason, he could climb higher on this list. His 1.9 WAR last season was quite unimpressive, but his offensive game stands out, which is why he made my top 10.
