1. Josh Donaldson (Toronto Blue Jays) Surprise surprise, look which top 3rd baseman ranked my list of the best 3rd baseman. It remains to be seen how Donaldson will react to a new stadium (especially one that is indoors) and new teammates. The truth is, I don’t expect anything to change. I would say Josh Donaldson getting some new base runners to play with and some even bigger bats hitting behind can’t really hurt him. There’s a good chance that Donaldson starts off slow this year. It is important that he not feel that he is slumping. Whether he plays in the two or three hole, he needs to remain in that spot.
When it comes down to it, Josh Donaldson is an upgrade over every 3rd baseman in the league today, that’s what it means to be the best.
His defense may look sloppy on the stat sheets, but watching his game it is anything but. 2014 may have seen less consistency at the plate from Donaldson, but the combination of his power and defensive prowess is unlike any other 3rd baseman in the league.
