The Chicago Cubs’ versatile utility man Logan Watkins was excited to get his 2015 campaign underway, so much so that he reported to Arizona early to begin training just like a few others in the organization. Due to some unfortunately circumstances however, he tweeted this a few hours ago:
“Devastated to say that I tore my Achilles today working out in Arizona. Hard to put into words how sad I am that I won’t be apart of the great season the Cubs are prepared to have. Thanks for all the positivity.. First time anything like this has ever happened to me so still kinda shocked. But the support helps a lot.”
Watkins, 25, has played in 58 games for the Cubs since 2013. He hit .246 last season with one home run, six RBIs, and 10 runs scored. He is expected to miss the entire 2015 season as “best case scenario” injuries of this sort have a six month recovery time.
