Ranking Each AL Team’s Best Offseason Move

7. Minnesota Twins extend Phil Hughes‘ contract

One could argue signing Ervin Santana this off-season was Minnesota’s best move, but with Santana unproven in Minnesota, the move to extend Hughes was the better move. Hughes had a fantastic bounce back season in Minnesota last year, in which he went 16-10 with a 3.52 ERA. The pact includes an extra three years on his original signed contract from Minnesota for $42 million.
