- Jose Reyes (Toronto Blue Jays)
I’m going to start this out by stating what we are all thinking. Just get on base Jose, that’s all, just get on base. Hitting behind Jose Reyes this year will be Jose Bautista, Edwin Encarnacion, Josh Donaldson, and Russell Martin. So Jose, just get on base.
Now that WE, yes you and I, got that off OUR chests’, let’s talk about Reyes’ game. If Starlin Castro isn’t the worst defensive player on this list, than it is Jose Reyes. Reyes is the only player on this list with a negative defensive efficiency rating (-0.1), as opposed to the leader in the category among SS (Andrelton Simmons) who has a 22.1 rating.
Jose Reyes is still a great hitter (BA hasn’t dropped below .270 since 2004), and of the game’s best base-runners (top 10 four times in SB %, top 10 eight times in SB, and 3rd in SB among active players).
Jose Reyes is the perfect lead-off man to top of the Blue Jays All-Star top five.
