Derek Jeter - Baltimore Orioles v New York Yankees                                                                                              Jim McIsaac/Getty Images

25. New York Yankees

Derek Jeter’s retirement left a big hole at shortstop for the Yankees, and they filled it with a young guy who has the potential to be a very good player in Didi Gregorious. Adding one young guy, however, doesn’t makeup for the age the Yankees still display all over the field. Carlos Beltran is 37, Brett Gardner and Jacoby Ellsbury are both 31, and Brian McCann is a 30-year-old catcher. Mark Teixera is 34, Stephen Drew, the Yankees new second baseman, is 31, Chase Headley is 30, Chris Capuano is 34, as is CC Sabathia, and of course, Alex Rodriguez is 39 and coming off a one year suspension. That leaves a grand total of four guys in the Yankees projected lineup and rotation who are under 30, and three of them are pitchers, one being Masashiro Tanaka, who is coming off a significant elbow injury. The Yankees would do well to look for another starting arm, as they will otherwise be leaning heavily on Sabathia, Tanaka, and Michael Pineda, who all have significant injury history.

How do you not mention Justin Morneau in the Rockies section when you talk about how much talent they have? He just won the batting title…
