2. Vanderbilt Commodores (4-1 Last Week, 6-2 Overall)
Top 25 Rank: #1
Weekend Series: vs. Illinois State
There is still absolutely no reason to worry if you are a Vanderbilt fan. They fall slightly behind Florida this week after a series win over Indiana State. Their inconsistent play is largely the result of their lack of power at the plate. They’ve only hit two home runs early on, but have totaled 24 extra base hits. Like last year, this is a team that will rely on gap power and speed to score runs. That will be enough for the ‘Dores as long as Walker Buehler effectively returns from injury. The projected first-round pick has yet to make a start this season after he experienced elbow soreness in the off-season. Per The Tennessean’s Adam Sparks:
Corbin: Walker Buehler looks recovered from sore elbow, should return soon

When healthy, Vanderbilt has the best rotation in college baseball with 2 future first round picks leading the way in Buehler and Carson Fulmer. A distinction that should give them a run at Omaha.
