The 2015 Boston Red Sox infield has many question marks going into the season, but if all the infielders play up to expectations, it could be one of the best in the American League. On Friday, we previewed the Red Sox outfield for 2015.
The infield was somewhat of a revolving door last season for the Sox, mainly due to injuries. Going into the season as the defending world champs, the infield projected to be Mike Napoli, Dustin Pedroia, Xander Bogaerts and Will Middlebrooks.
Both Napoli and Pedroia played hurt most of the season, as well as Middlebrooks. Bogaerts didn’t really play up to expectations in his rookie season, which led to players like Brock Holt, Garin Cecchini and Jemile Weeks to get opportunities. The season also saw the return of Stephen Drew for a little while before being traded to the rival Yankees for Kelly Johnson.
This season will hopefully prove to be more consistent for the Sox infield.
