Weekend Series: at South Carolina
The Wildcats have won 11 straight since their loss to nationally-ranked UC-Santa Barbara on February 21. Much of their success is due to one of the most consistent line-ups in the SEC. The Wildcats have eight guys hitting above .300.
The rotation started off shaky, but it has only allowed more than five runs twice in their current winning streak. Sophomore hurler Zack Brown has led the way with a 1.74 ERA in 20 2/3 innings. His efforts were capped with a complete-game shutout win over Northern Kentucky last Saturday.
Weekend Prediction: South Carolina defeats Kentucky 2 games to 1
This will be a closer series than most people expect. Don’t even be surprised to see Kentucky take the series if they can get solid efforts from their weekend rotation. The difference will be South Carolina’s bullpen, which has been absolutely dominant heading into SEC play.
