13. Missouri Tigers
(2-3 Last Week, 0-0 SEC, 12-4 Overall)
Top 25 Rank: NR
Weekend Series: at Georgia
Don’t let the record fool you, Missouri is still in the rebuilding process. While the Tigers boasted a 12-1 record before getting swept by Milwaukee at home last weekend, their non-conference schedule is lacking.
The biggest concern with the Tigers is their lack of offense. They are only hitting .245 and have averaged just above 4.5 runs per game. Luckily, their offense has held opponents to a .196 batting average and boasts a 2.11 ERA.
Junior hurler Reggie McClain has been a large part of the rotation’s success. The junior college transfer has allowed six runs in 29 1/3 innings of work and earned SEC Pitcher of the Week honors after shutting out Sam Houston State last month.
Weekend Prediction: Georgia defeats Missouri 2 games to 1
Missouri will get a win in this series because of their pitching staff. As a staff, they have a 2.11 ERA and have only allowed 98 hits in 141 innings. Unfortunately, a good outing by McClain or Peter Fairbanks may be spoiled by a lack of offense.
