SEC Power Rankings: Week 4

3. LSU Tigers blue

Top 25 Rank: #4

Weekend Series: vs. Ole Miss

Just when you think the Tigers are going to have a down year, they pull off a 13 game winning streak. The Tigers attribute much of their success to their weekend arms, a trio of underclassmen led by sophomore Jared Poche. In Friday’s win over #16 Houston, Poche pitched 7 2/3 innings, allowing four hits and two runs.

The biggest question mark with the Tigers was their youth in the rotation, but freshmen Alex Lange and Jake Godfrey have been stellar in eight combined starts. The two have allowed a combined eight earned runs in 44 1/3 innings of work. If their success continues, you can punch the Tigers a ticket to Omaha this season.

Weekend Prediction: LSU defeats Ole Miss 2 games to 1

The Rebels’ reeling offense will be a nice way for the young Tigers’ rotation to ease into SEC play. LSU pitchers have held opposing hitters to a .213 average, while Ole Miss has a .255 team batting average.
